Some I agree with, most I don’t. You decide…GameSpy.com: A few days ago, GameSpy brought you the news that MTV planned to have a whopping 5000 songs available for download in the Rock Band store by the end of 2009. While that claim has since been dismissed and debunked by the folks at Harmonix, it got us thinking about the songs we’d most like to see the next time we decide to pop into Rock Band’s virtual storefront. Keep in mind that all of these entries are simply the opinion of the editor that wanted them and that, as you’ll see as you read on, we generally have terrible taste in music.

After reading our suggestions, be sure to head into the forums or down to the comment section to let us know what tunes you’d want to play!

Moving Pictures Rock Band DLC paused
posted by: TweakyPete in Rockband with the tags: , , . on 08 27th, 2008 | | No Comments »

Making music on toy instruments is tough enough on its own, but that goes doubly so when players have nothing to strum along to. Rush fans have learned that the hard way this week, given that the promised full-album download of the prog-rock act’s 1981 record Moving Pictures did not make it onto the Xbox 360’s Rock Band store yesterday.

The good news is that Harmonix is aware of the issue. “Just so you know, we know that Rush’s Moving Pictures isn’t up yet,” said community manager Sean Baptiste on the developer’s official Web site. “There is a technical difficulty that is being worked out. I’ll alert you when it is all clear.” The bad news is that, as of press time, Harmonix had not established a time frame for when the DLC will be available.

Rush’s Moving Pictures is the latest full-album download to be added to the MTV Games-published rhythm title. The track pack, which includes such classic rock-radio staples as “Tom Sawyer” and “YYZ,” is expected to appear in the PlayStation 3 edition of the game tomorrow.

Rush Fails Tom Sawyer
posted by: TweakyPete in Rockband with the tags: , . on 07 23rd, 2008 | | No Comments »

Ok, this is one of the funniest thing I’ve seen. Rush is on tour… just finished playing Tom Sawyer on the Cobert Report, then heads to a studio to try Rock Band for the first time. The difficulty was set to Expert, the masters of rock prepared and played… FAIL! They finished 31% of the song before Neil Peart (can’t even believe I’m typing this) fails the song. I will say, the first time ever playing… Tom Sawyer… pretty impressive. I assume Mr. Peart has a difficult time playing without 19,000 toms and chimes. ;) Watch and laugh.

Harmonix started off this week with the enticing announcement that Rock Band is prepping up for an encore later on in the year and now the music gurus are ending it with a bang by announcing that Tuesday next week Rock Band will be getting two new tracks from Red Hot Chili Peppers and another duet of tracks from Rush.

Tuesday next week, Rock Band fans can look forward to the folowing new tracks (all masters):

  • Red Hot Chili Peppers - Snow (Hey Oh)
  • Red Hot Chili Peppers - Tell Me Baby
  • Rush - Closer to the Heart
