DLC Update 04-30-09
posted by: TweakyPete in Rockband with the tags: , . on 04 24th, 2009 | | No Comments »

nothingsshockingIt is about fucking time… destructoid.com - Say it with me: “It’s about God damned time.” Revealed as downloadable content last freakin’ year, the classic Jane’s Addiction album Nothing’s Shocking is coming to Rock Band as downloadable content next week. The best news? It’s coming to all three platforms, the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Wii.

The full album will cost $15.99 (1280 MS Points for the 360); Wii owners will have to purchase individual tracks at 200 Wii Points a piece. Xbox 360 and PS3 folks can pick and choose songs at 160 MS Points or $1.99 respectively. Tracks hit Xbox LIVE Marketplace and Wii Rock Band Music Store on Tuesday, and PlayStation Store on Thursday.

As someone who grew up listening to this album on a cassette until my Walkman ate it up, I’m going to go ahead and buy this whole thing. Others may only recognize a few of the tracks, particularly “Jane Says,” an alternate version of which was made popular in the 90s.

The following tracks — along with “Mountain Song,” which already appears on the Rock Band 2 disc — will complete the album:

“Up the Beach”
“Ocean Size.”
“Had a Dad”
“Ted, Just Admit It…”
“Standing in the Shower… Thinking”
“Summertime Rolls”
“Idiots Rule”
“Jane Says”
“Thank You Boys”
“Pig’s in Zen”

What’s your plan?

Don’t Stop Believin’

RR018562gearlive.com - So here’s the drink list from the event Harmonix threw the other day at the Rockit Room in San Fran. Nice, eh? I didn’t get the opportunity to indulge, but one fellow told me that the overdrive will “take you to flavor country” before gliding away on roller skates.

Oh, and at the end of the night, they announced and played a song called “Don’t Stop Believing” or something by some flash in the pan band named Journey would be hitting Rock Band. Should be available next Tuesday, but the date is subject to change and the pricing has not yet been announced, if you care about that kind of stuff.

stevierayvaughantexasflood1This great album was promised by the end of 08. Harmonix has done such a great job, we can allow them a slip up or 2. ;) kotaku.com - Harmonix revealed the full album’s availability via the Rock Band Music Store to subscribers of the Rock Band Community Zine, with ten tracks from Stevie Ray Vaughn and Double Trouble landing (presumably) starting next Tuesday, March 3rd. Announced last summer, Texas Flood is the second to last from that batch to hit—Jane’s Addiction’s Nothing’s Shocking still remains unreleased.

Price is $15.99 for the PlayStation 3 version or 1280 Microsoft Points for the Xbox 360 and contains the following tracks that you’re probably going to have a hard time playing very well.

DLC Week of 02/10/09

4602el33tonline.com - Harmonix and MTV Games have announced that they’ll be expanding their selection of indie rock tracks by releasing a 3-pack of songs from Scottish alternative rock band, The Fratellis, for Rock Band.

The track pack will include ‘Creepin Up the Backstairs,’ ‘Flathead,’ and ‘Henrietta,’ which were all featured in the band’s 2006 debut album, Costello Music. As for the band’s credibility, they’ve won several awards, such as the 2007 BRIT Award for ‘Best British Breakthrough Act.’ Pretty credible, then.

The pack releases tomorrow (February 10th) on Xbox LIVE Marketplace and on Thursday (February 12th) on the PlayStation Store.

Look forward to it!

pearl-jam-ten-318743GameDaily.com - Pearl Jam dips into Rock Band territory next month when their groundbreaking album Ten becomes available for download, but Best Buy has a bonus deal that will give you three extra tracks.

Two special repackagings of the original Ten album will be sold exclusively through BestBuy.com, featuring bonus content suited for Pearl Jam fans. The Super Deluxe Edition, selling for $200, features a previously unreleased acoustic show, four vinyl LP’s and more.

In addition, however, fans that pick up the pack will also receive a code to download three bonus tracks for the Rock Band games on PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360. These tracks are live versions of “Alive” and “State of Love and Trust,” as well as the studio track “Brother.” No word yet if they’ll be available for download outside the promotion, but we’re guessing eventually they will.

thin_lizzyZergwatch.com: Harmonix and MTV will bring seven new tracks to Rock Band and Rock Band 2 rockers next week, including a triple-shot of classic, leather pants-wearing Irish rock from Thin Lizzy.

The Thin Lizzy three pack features a trio of live tracks from the band’s Still Dangerous: Live At The Tower Theater Philadelphia 1977 album. That’s obviously better than the two-for-Tuesday my local classic rock station can offer.

Joining Thin Lizzy are individual tracks from Pat Benatar and The Pretenders, plus a pair from Nikko, the pre-packaged pop group from the movie Spectacular!.

Thin Lizzy 3 Pack (440 MS Points / $5.49)

“Boys are Back in Town (live)” (160 MS Points / $1.99)
“Cowboy Song (live)” (160 MS Points / $1.99)
“Jailbreak (live)” (160 MS Points / $1.99)
Individual Tracks

Pat Benatar “Hit Me with Your Best Shot” (160 MS Points / $1.99)
The Pretenders “Precious” (160 MS Points / $1.99)
Nikko “Don’t Tell Me” (80 MS Points / $0.99)
Nikko “Break My Heart” (80 MS Points / $0.99)

Another half-dozen jams, all master recordings, all $1.99 (160 Microsoft Points) each. The Grateful Dead Pack 02, priced at $9.99 (800 Microsoft Points) for the bundle, for Rock Band and Rock Band 2 features the following tracks.

“Hell In a Bucket” from In the Dark
“Don’t Ease Me In” from Go To Heaven
“Cold Rain & Snow” from Steal Your Face
“Doin’ That Rag” from Aoxomoxoa
“Fire On the Mountain” from Shakedown Street

Harmonix has at least one more six-pack of Grateful Dead tracks on the way, as announced way back in the Fall of 2007.
