Microsoft Enters the Porn Business
posted by: TweakyPete in Sex with the tags: , . on 08 28th, 2008 | | No Comments »

Microsoft has created a web browser with a feature nicknamed ‘porn mode’ that allows users to access websites without leaving a trace of the surfing habits on their computers.

The launch of Internet Explorer 8 with its InPrivateBrowsing mode is likely to affect the advertising models used by rivals, who monitor sites visited by users and use the information to target them with specific adverts.

It will also enable users to conceal potentially embarrassing websites such as medical sites and pornography that they visit from other people using the same computer.

At the moment companies selling online adverts can gather information about web users’ habits and use it to help them to decide what type of advertisements to show for each individual surfer.

However, the InPrivateBrowsing mode allows people to surf the web without having a list of sites that they visit being stored on their computers.

The new Internet Explorer 8 also introduces an additional InPrivateBlocking mode, which can block third-party content from appearing on web sites. Companies that provide such content may also be collecting and sharing information about what people do online. But users who turn on InPrivateBlocking will not see that content or be exposed to such data collection without their consent.

InPrivateBlocking can also keep some types of adverts from appearing – including those served up by Microsoft’s own advertising platform, whose success is considered critical to the software maker’s future.

Ian Moulster, the UK product manager for Internet Explorer 8, said: “If an advert is coming form a different internet site that would count as being something that is picked up by InPrivateBlocking. You can then draw up a black list of adverts that can be blocked.”

New Full Albums for Rock Band 2

Come on. Tell me Rock Band is just a game for kids. You can tell by the younger generation albums coming out for RB2…
kotaku.com

While going into a music store to buy a full CD is becoming a thing of the past, there is a place where full albums are thriving, and that place is Rock Band. The trend looks to grow following the release of Rock Band 2 as Entertainment Weekly exclusively reports on not one but six new full album downloads to be released in the coming months for Harmonix’s baby, and it’s a damn fine lineup if you ask me. Foo Fighters’ “The Colour and the Shape”, Red Hot Chili Peppers’ “Blood Sugar Sex Magik”, Jane’s Addiction’s “Nothing’s Shocking”, Megadeth’s “Peace Sells… But Who’s Buying” and Stevie Ray Vaughn’s “Texas Flood” are all in queue, along with a special No Doubt best of collection compiled just for the game.

“We’re surprised by how many people opted to get full albums,” says Paul Degooyer, Senior Vice President at MTV Games. “But it’s a good value proposition. Talk about something that’s been lost and forgotten.”
As if the holiday season stand-alone games weren’t going to cost me enough already. Thanks a lot, Harmonix.

Moving Pictures Rock Band DLC paused

Making music on toy instruments is tough enough on its own, but that goes doubly so when players have nothing to strum along to. Rush fans have learned that the hard way this week, given that the promised full-album download of the prog-rock act’s 1981 record Moving Pictures did not make it onto the Xbox 360’s Rock Band store yesterday.

The good news is that Harmonix is aware of the issue. “Just so you know, we know that Rush’s Moving Pictures isn’t up yet,” said community manager Sean Baptiste on the developer’s official Web site. “There is a technical difficulty that is being worked out. I’ll alert you when it is all clear.” The bad news is that, as of press time, Harmonix had not established a time frame for when the DLC will be available.

Rush’s Moving Pictures is the latest full-album download to be added to the MTV Games-published rhythm title. The track pack, which includes such classic rock-radio staples as “Tom Sawyer” and “YYZ,” is expected to appear in the PlayStation 3 edition of the game tomorrow.

Jenna Jameson ‘a devout Catholic’ and pregnant too
Ahh, this funny little planet of ours…
The number of headlines listed under this one in major news outlets is enough to shock even youngsters. Where do were go from here…

PEOPLE MAGAZINE:

Celebrity news can go off the deep end as it did today, with Madonna comparing McCain to Hitler, and Jenna Jameson proclaiming herself a devout Catholic.
Jameson announced to UsWeekly.com she “is going to be a mommy.”
“Yes, I can confirm I’m pregnant. It’s still early, so I’m being cautious. I’m resting as much as possible,” she tells Usmagazine.com. “I’m so happy!”
Her boyfriend and MMA (mixed martial art) fighter Tito Ortiz, “are still in a state of shock….I’m just saying super healthy,” she says. “I’ve moved down to the beach with Tito — I love being by the beach.”
Jameson is 34, and her public divorces from adult film studio owner Jay Grdina in 2006 and from porn star Brad Armstrong in 2001 caused the porn actress to lose a shocking amount of weight, and are the alleged reasons she refuses to marry Ortiz.
“I think I’m gonna stay unmarried and just go for the babies!” she told Us. “I’m following in Angelina’s footsteps!”
UsWeekly claims she is a devout Catholic “who has tried in vitro…’It was all in God’s plan,’ she said”

ROCK BANDâ„¢ TAKES ON NEW WAVE WITH DEVO AND DURAN DURAN

Harmonix and MTV Games announced today the addition of tracks from New Wave pioneers Devo and Duran Duran to the Rock Band™ Music Store catalog of downloadable content. On August 19, Devo’s “Girl U Want” and “Through Being Cool,” and Duran Duran’s “Rio” and “Girls on Film” will make their music gaming debut.

Considered to be one of the most influential acts in pop music history, Devo originally formed in 1973 but didn’t find commercial success until the 80s with the help of their colorful music videos. Devo re-recorded exclusively for Rock Band, “Girl U Want” from their third studio album, the 1980 release, Freedom of Choice, and the synthpop hit “Through Being Cool” from their fourth studio album, New Traditionalists, released in 1981. These tracks join “Uncontrollable Urge”, from Q: Are We Not Men, A: We Are Devo!,which is featured on Rock Band 2’s disc.

Two-time Grammy® winning, New Romantic act Duran Duran joins the Rock Band DLC catalog with original master recordings of “Girls on Film” and “Rio.” “Girls on Film” is from their 1981 eponymously titled, multi-platinum album debut and most notably was one of the most banned music videos of its time. With “Rio” from their 1982 release Rio, Duran Duran found success in the music video age and their second hit in the U.S. One of the most commercially successful bands of the New Wave movement, Duran Duran have had 21 singles in the Billboard Hot 100 and have sold more than 100 million records worldwide. Duran Duran are also among the classic tracks on Rock Band 2’s set list, with their smash hit “Hungry Like the Wolf” standing out from a strong set of 80s songs.

Each track will be available for $1.99 (160 Microsoft Points) per track.

Rounding out the August 19th Rock Band DLC release schedule is the track “Get Your Rock On” from MTV’s The American Mall, an original made-for-TV musical airing this month. “Get Your Rock On” will be available for .99¢ (80 Microsoft Points).

An Essay from a Libertarian…
posted by: TweakyPete in Drugs with the tags: , . on 08 13th, 2008 | | No Comments »

As a fellow Libertarian, I have to give kudos to Bob Barr for once again taking up the pro-leg stance for pot. It’s not that I’m a stoner, it’s that pot laws are stupid. I believe we as Americans have better things to focuss on. Anywhooo, I’ll let Bob take over from here… GO LIBS!
Bob Barr for President!
The Post
Libertarian Party Presidential Candidate Bob Barr is, apparently, a close reader of the news of Prince George’s County.

The former Republican Congressman from Georgia released a statement on his presidential campaign website about the July 29 Prince George’s police and sheriff’s raid on the home of Berwyn Heights Mayor Cheye Calvo.

County law enforcement investigating a suspicious package addressed to Calvo’s wife and filled with 32 pounds of marijuana broke through the mayor’s door without knocking and fatally shot his two black labs. Police announced last week that Calvo and his family were innocent victims of a drug smuggling scheme. Local and federal investigations into the raid continues.

Barr opens his statement with a joke: “We typically make fun of bungled police operations by saying they were conducted by the gang that couldn’t shoot straight. In this case they could shoot straight — as a result, they killed a family’s two dogs in the midst of a misguided drug raid.”
