…And here you have it. Like I’ve been saying for years… When I bought Guitar Hero II for my daughter, I had never played before. She was already an expert on GHI, so I was a bit behind the curve. In addition, I had just seen the GH South Park which had confirmed my suspicions that there was a musical “lack of morality”. The idea just didn’t seem right. Kids thinking they are rock stars by playing a game. So, my first and only song I played was Heart’s Barracuda. I didn’t make it far into the song before failing. In disgust, I never played it again… not because I failed a song I knew note for note, but because I KNEW the notes were wrong. Of course I came off like a little baby, but I still felt justified. NOW HERE IS MY PROOF!

New tracks from Staind, Scars on Broadway, The New No2 and Testament will make their debut in the Rock Band Music Store on July 29. The New No2’s “Yomp,†the first single from their forthcoming debut You Are Here will be available. Finally, Testament’s “Electric Crown,†from their 1992 studio album, The Ritual will round out this week’s releases. “Electric Clown†will be available for $1.99 (160 Microsoft Points).
Ok, this is one of the funniest thing I’ve seen. Rush is on tour… just finished playing Tom Sawyer on the Cobert Report, then heads to a studio to try Rock Band for the first time. The difficulty was set to Expert, the masters of rock prepared and played… FAIL! They finished 31% of the song before Neil Peart (can’t even believe I’m typing this) fails the song. I will say, the first time ever playing… Tom Sawyer… pretty impressive. I assume Mr. Peart has a difficult time playing without 19,000 toms and chimes.
Watch and laugh.

Harmonix has announced recently that they have taken the criticism for the first game and fixed and fined tuned the areas needed, like the instruments. Harmonix has improved each and every one of the Rock Band instruments for Rock Band 2, however you can use the instruments from the first game or most similar instruments (for example, guitar hero guitars or microphones from Sing Star or Karaoke Revolution).

Another day, another twist and turn in the story that just won’t go away. While it seemed like the Alex Rodriguez/Madonna alleged affair story had finally died down, it’s back with a vengeance- and this time, with the added rumor of a sex tape!
According to British tabloid The Daily Star, an unidentified man has come forward claiming that he secretly filmed Yankee star Alex Rodriguez and Madonna having sex, by use of a hidden camera installed in one of Madonna’s Kabbalah practicing friends’ home, who is also friends with him.
This sounds a little bit too British spy movie-like to be true. But we guess stranger things have happened. The gentleman in possession of the alleged tape is said to be asking two million dollars for it. Nothing like a sneaky secret-camera installing cameraman to ruin Madonna’s day.
There is one legal hitch for the crafty cameraman. Installing a secret video camera and taping people having sex without their consent, is what legal experts would call…illegal.
A legal expert weighed in on the matter, saying, “If footage was obtained in this way it would be an outrageous invasion of privacy. But more than that he would not have had his friend’s consent to install the camera and must have entered the apartment without approval to hide it….That is burglary. He would be prima facie guilty of voyeurism. Instead of making a million he’d be going to jail for a few years…Even if the video existed it would probably be seized by the courts.’’
In other words, the cameraman could be taken to court for burglary and voyeurism. Hard to profit from behind bars, buddy! Looks like in this case, Madonna and A-Rod are off the hook. Even if the footage exits, it’s likely to stay hidden for a very long time…

At this year’s E3, Rock Band 2 made a very big and expected splash. Heck, they even got The Who to perform at their big party on Wednesday night. If that ain’t recognition by rock royalty, I don’t know what is. But they made some interesting announcements about accessories, including the new sunburst Stratocaster guitar controller and the ION Drumrocker pro drum set. But peripheral maker Mad Catz had quite possibly the coolest peripherals on display, and better yet, they’re completely official Rock Band licensed products.
The first premium product they showed off was the new bass controller based off of the Fender Precision Bass design. Built to the same scale as the other official Fender-licensed controllers, the P-Bass will ship this Fall for $69.99. It features a split strum bar (essentially two small strum bars next to each other) for faster and more authentic plucking action. There’s even a little thumb rest to make is easier, as there is on the real-life equivalent. Since bass guitars usually don’t have whammy bars, they moved that functionality to the volume knobs. The wireless P-Bass will be the perfect complement to any serious Rock Band aficionado’s axe collection.

As reported by STUFF, we all could be treated to our wildest dreams soon…
Pop star Jessica Simpson has been left reeling by rumours a sex tape starring her is about to be leaked onto the internet.
The alleged X-rated home movie is said to show The Dukes of Hazzard actress and her ex-husband Nick Lachey engaged in a number of sex acts.
A source told Britain’s Daily Sport newspaper: “Jessica is horrified her name and sex tape are being mentioned in the same sentence. She’s always been a girl of high morals and principles.”
According to reports the tape does exist and has fallen into the hands of the individuals responsible for leaking the Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee sex video.

We’re still enjoying Guitar Hero at my office but I would be willing to move the Wii to a more spacious location in order to accomodate this awesome new Ion Audio drumset for Rock Band.
Contrary to popular belief, San Francisco is not a great music town, at least not if you are a drummer and want to practice in your house. Unlike the east coast (and presumably elsewhere) where basements are plentiful, the bay area is lacking in-home practice areas.
Generally speaking electronic drums are not that satisfying, but bring some video games into the mix and I’m on board. During a trip to Japan I sat down at the full-size drum machine game and played along to Crazy Train. All the kids thought I ruled until I told them I actually knew how to play.
