DLC Album #3! Pixies Doolittle

Pixies Doolittle
Another exciting moment. As the clock ticks by on Gen X, the Gen Y crowd start to evolved into whatever society they want to create. It, of course, make me feel older and older. As any of you gamers 35 and older can attest to, the video game genre is becoming less our arena and more to the likings of the younger class. Once again, Harmonix and MTV games have renewed my faith in the need for my generation to be part of the Rockband Explosion. Album #3 in the RB arsonal… The Pixies Doolittle.

Think about what you would want RB to have for it’s first 3 albums… I guarantee most of you would think on a much higher level (much like myself). Fair Warning, Highway to Hell, Ride the Lighting, Persistence of Time… anything from The Guess Who comes to mind long before Screaming for Vengence, Cars, and Doolittle, and yet to me, that makes these choices so much more real, eclectic, and exciting.

Video Game Sex: Historical View
posted by: TweakyPete in Rockband, Sex with the tags: , . on 06 14th, 2008 | | No Comments »

Porn & PongActually, there is some amazing art direction in this piece, because I was drawn to it right away. I was however, a bit disappointed by the Q&A. I don’t like being talked to like I need a historical lesson on Leisure Suit Larry. My condoms have been glowing in the dark since the 80’s. Quick read though.

Yawn question #1:

Q: You mention on your website you’ve been working on Porn and Pong for more than five years. What’s so interesting about sex in games that it’s kept you busy all this time?

A: Well, how I got started with the book is I pitched some articles to major gaming publications. I had some good discussions with editors, but it was one of those things where people were like, ‘No, people don’t want to read about this”… So I started to research it on my own, and I realized there was a lot of history there. For instance, Leisure Suit Larry came out at the height of the awareness of the AIDS epidemic. I don’t see it as a coincidence that these two things came to prominence at the same time.

Bo Diddley Honored by Gaming Community
posted by: TweakyPete in Rockband with the tags: . on 06 10th, 2008 | | No Comments »

Not sure how many of you have actually seen Mr. Diddley perform live, but I have been fortunate enough to see him several times. At least 4 times a year he would play at a hole-in-the-wall bar I worked at (The Mason Jar, Indian School and 24th st.). It was always quite a sight to see 50 or 60 death metal freaks mesmerized by an old R&B guitarist. Those are found memories, and I will always have them.

So, kudos to Harmonix for stepping up to the plate, and honoring a man worth honoring.

This looks fantastic. Seth is on a roll and I can’t get enough, but of course I can’t get enough of Will Ferrel, and most of my friends disagree… but NO ONE can get enough pot movies.

Ya know, never really had a positive outlook of having my crotch cut off. Call me old fashioned, but until today, I thought it would never happen to me. But now? Are you kidding me? FREE! What upstanding U.S. citizen would not take home the 5 per family limit of these from Walmart? The world just keeps getting better.

This is great!

Hmmm… is this really news? It’s like a headline that reads “mammal breathes air, and lives another day”. Are we really surprised that Billionaires have cocaine warehouses? or hookers? What the hell would you do with your money? Give it to the poor? PA LEZE

posted by: DirtyBonnie in Rockband with the tags: , . on 06 7th, 2008 | | No Comments »

Next week’s downloadable content for Harmonix’s Rock Band will be what the developer refers to as the MTV2 three-pack, plus an additional track from post-punk revival rockers Maximo Park.

The MTV2 pack includes “Moving to Seattle” by the Material, “A Clean Shot” by the Myriad, and “Bullets and Guns” by Them Terribles. The sole Maximo Park track up on offer is “Girls Who Play Guitars,” which is not included in the MTV2 pack. All four of the songs are master recordings.

All four tracks will be sold individually for 80 Microsoft Points ($.99) a piece, while the MTV2 three-pack is offered at the non-discounted price of 240 Microsoft Points ($2.99).

As always, the tracks will be available for download on the Xbox 360 edition of Rock Band on June 10, followed by a PlayStation 3 release on Thursday, June 12.
